Hmm. I'm thinking that it may be your brain chemistry that is giving you an appetite. Your seratonin and beta-endorphn levels may be low and eating is pleasurable. Stimulating the release of these two is also part of what makes people reach out for carbs.
There's a discussion here on the Mood Cure and the Diet Cure by Julia Ross. Part of her practice is working with amino acids and vitamin supplementaion. It may be that you need a certain amino acid. It's worth a try!
