The troop gets $.25 - .50 per box, but the rest goes to support the Girl Scout Council. Without the cookie revenue the council wouldn't be able to run and maintain their service centers, camps, and varied programs. Our council, which serves 14 counties, runs with about 20 paid employees and about 2000
thousand adult volunteers. Cookie profit is the main revenue.

A troop can easily make $400-500 cookie profit with a motivated group of girls, which is usually used for some kind of troop activity or trip (my troop, when I had one, spent the money on things such as a trip to Mammoth Cave).

I bought two boxes today from a Cadette (middle-high school) troop cookie booth. But I have two teenage sons, so I don't have to worry about what to do with the cookies.
