I think Dodger has it right.

All those studies they cited merely compare people who ate refined crap, to people who ate more 'natural' whole foods.

I don't think fiber has anything to do with it. In fact in one study of colon cancer, they found that adding fiber supplements to the diet actualy resulted in MORE cancerous changes to the colon.

Fiber is merely a 'marker' for whole foods.

And if cereal fiber is the cure-all they say it is, what saved our lives for the half-million years before we invented wheat??
