Those glasses of milk will also give you a nice spike on insulin demand, especially if you happen to have high insulin resistance, like M and I do have.

You can supplement your calcium by eating more cheese, and be taking a good supplement pill. We each take a 1.2 gm CalciBoost, with 400 IU of Vit D built in, every day.

Our tests show that our calcium content and bone density have improved, for both M and myself over the past 1.5 years on the Atkins diet.

It is important to be aware of these supplement issues while losing weight on Atkins, just as Dr. Atkins carefully pointed out in his books.

And it is even more important for many of us to be sure that we control our insulin demands , while at the same time taking care of needs for calcium, magnesium and other important minerals.

No simple minded answers for the complex problems of eating and weight control, for the rest of our lives.
