OK, I just checked one of my old wine making books ... it suggests that unflavoured gelatin powder mayalso be used as a clarifying or fining agent. Gelatin is made from bones. Perhaps this is their extrapolation ... of course, saying that it contains bones sounds more disgusting and scarier than gelatin.
