Sad - I can't believe this article didn't even mention the explosive increase in sugar (especially HFCS) in the average North American's diet over the last generation or two.
The author makes it sound like everyone's "baffled" by this diabetes epidemic. They blame genetics. Several generations ago, we ate plenty of protein and fat. Now we've replaced most of it with high-glycemic carbs. We have foods (term used loosely) now with so much sugar, they probably would have made our grandparents sick. And those guys are baffled?
