In my view, the article mainly points out that eating low carb isn't as incredulous as mainstream nutritionsists make it appear today. It vividly reminds us that the low fat/low meat diet is only about 20 years old, which wouldn't even justify more than a sentence in any history book.
For me, I think it was a nice compare and contrast between the different eras in which we live. A few hundred years ago, I believe people often shared their ideas, findings, and solutions more for altruistic reasons as opposed to today where it's always "it's my idea, so I should patent it, etc..."
I agree there are VERY few original ideas; and, eating low carb, which has been around since, oh, the dawn of civilization surely isn't one of them. Ironically, eating low fat & meatless diet would be an original idea since that novel concept has only been around for a very short time relative to how long people have been sustaining primarily on meats augmented by lesser amounts of veggies and fruits.
