HUM.. good question. I am fairly new to CALP. I had been doing CAD for a long time and I never worried too much about the balancing part of it with CAD. My quess would be that you would probably be just fine if you wanted to eat more protein and CM veggies. I would not think that it would hurt that much to leave out the extra carbs. At least that is my opnion. Someone else might know more about this.
Wish I could have been more help. I will see if it says anything in the book about that. All I remember them saying in the book is, you can't go back and have seconds of carbs without having more protein and CM veggies too, but it didn't say anything about just protein and CM veggies that I can remember.
Will see if I can find out.
