Default Fruits and Vegetables...Low-Carb vs. Low-Fat

I used Fitday to calculate how many cups (1-2 servings) of 47 Vegetables listed in AFL and that I personally eat...would be needed to reach the 60g [Average] Maintnance Carbs on most LC plans vs. how many cups would be needed to exceed the Maximum Protein, Fat, or Saturated Fat intake based on USDA Guidelines.

Not suprisingly, Low-Carb [60g CHO] Maintnance exceeded Low-Fat [2,000 Kcal] in allowances for 15 out of 47 Vegetables. In most of the cases where LF exceeded LC in Vegetable allowance, both allowed for servings in excess of what any normal person would consume.

*Avocado has 4K Calories in the servings required to reach 60g Net Carbs. Eating that much Coconut/Avocado would likely violate the "Eat until Satisfied, not Stuffed" rule.

*Coconut has 3K Calories in the servings required to reach 60g Net Carbs. Eating that much Coconut/Avocado would likely violate the "Eat until Satisfied, not Stuffed" rule.

**French Fries are listed as "Eat Sparingly"…3 cups [amount containing 60g Net Carbs] probably would not qualify as sparingly. In addition, many commercially fried French Fries are fried in Hydrogenated Oils which are not allowed on many Low-Carb plans. Fries fried in Non-Hydrogenated Oils can be eaten "sparingly." If highly saturated fats [such as Coconut or Palm Kernel Oil] were used...the amount of French Fries allowed on a LF Plan would decrease significantly. Numbers for LF Plan are based on using Hydrogenated Soybean Oil.

**Mashed Potatoes are listed as "Eat Sparingly"…2 cups [amount containing 60g Net Carbs] probably would not qualify as sparingly. In addition, some commercially prepared Mashed Potatoes are made with Margarine, which is not allowed on many Low-Carb plans. Mashed Potatoes made without Margarine can be eaten "sparingly." Numbers for LF Plan are based on using Whole Milk and Butter. They would increase if Margarine or Reduced/Nonfat Milk were substituted.

*150 cups of Olives has 23,000 Calories. This clearly would be well beyond most people's capacity to eat…and would also clearly violate the "Eat until Satisfied, not stuffed" rule.

*Parsnips are listed as "Eat Sparingly"…3 cups [amount containing 60g Net Carbs] probably would not qualify as "sparingly."
