I had the same problem and this is what I did to fix it.

1) Brush/floss/gargle after each meal and make sure you do not go to bed without brushing after the last meal.
2) Chew Wrigleys Eclipse gum (1g of carb from aspartame)
3) Enlist the aid of a loved one or friend to be your YMM (Yuck Mouth Monitor)
4) If you drink coffee all day long, cut it out. Drinking coffee incessantly throughout the day leaves you with a thick white film of placque loaded with VSC's (volatile sulphur compounds).

- Bad breath is caused by bacteria feeding protein and producing VSC's as a by product.
- Most of the problem is in the back of your mouth. Your tongue is bumpy and pourous and needs to be brushed especially in the very back - so gag gag. Also, food particles get stuck between the teeth and need to be flossed out. Don't forget to floss behind the last row of teeth. Use a scentless floss and smell the floss - concentrate on the stinky areas of your mouth.
- Gargle with Listerine or another germ killing formula.
- Brush/gargle/floss after each meal and don't go to bed without brushing after the last meal of the day. The idea is to prevent bacteria from setting up shop in your mouth.
- I tried all types of gums, candies and strips but Eclipse work best for me. Target has the best price in my area ($1.44 for a 3 pack).
- Have your YMM do a before and after test for your breath.
