Bluugirl, I believe that this is another "modified" Atkins LC Diet, (if I may use Atkins as the basis for all LC WOE plans).
If you stick to Suzanne's 'can eat' list of foods, you will find that they contain the lowest quantity of carb grams.
Her 'forbidden to eat' list has obviously the highest glycemic index type of foods.
If you stick with her formula in Level 1, you would only eat the minimum of low carb grams per day.
Her success, appears to be her recommended "gourmet style" recipes for LC eating.
I would suggest that you try and get Dr. Schwarzbeins book from your library, to learn more about the science part.
