Default BBQ Sauce

I received the DIY newsletter and it had this bbq sauce recipe and it sounds pretty good. I haven't tried it yet but it looks to be pretty low carb. It was provided by Rick Ribbentrop, Omaha, NE. (just to give credit where credit is due).

1/4 lb. butter or 1/2 cup olive oil
1 cup soy sauce
1/8 cup lemon juice or white wine wine
1/4 cup water
1 tsp. celery seed
2 to 3 Tbs. dry hot Chinese mustard
Tabasco sauce to taste
1 to 3 tsp. garlic powder or fresh minced garlic cloves
1 tsp. paprika
3 dashes Worcestershire sauce

Preparation:

Combine all ingredients in a large sauce pan and cook over medium to low heat. Bring to a boil and set aside until ready to use.

If you have leftover sauce, just stick it in the refrigerator and it will be good to go. Just heat it in the microwave for a couple of minutes before using.

After your favorite meat has cooked for a while on the grill, brush it with the BBQ sauce 4 or 5 times on each side. This sauce works great on chicken or pork.

This sauce also makes a great jerky. Use 1 teaspoon olive oil and 1 teaspoon sesame oil instead of 1/4 pound butter or 1/2 cup olive oil. Marinate meat for 2 to 4 hours before starting the dehydrating process.

Servings: 4 to 6
