I used cheese as a between meal snack when I first started, but found it really didn't take the edge off of my hunger. I usually just sprinkle some shredded cheddar on the lunch salad and leave it at that.
When I did eat it, I was sure to measure and stayed at around 3 oz. I was never big on cheese anyway (except mozzerella on pizza, pasta, etc.).
