Mine didn't recommend Atkins per se, but he did recommend low carb without specifying how low (I choose Dr. Bernstein's Diabetes Solution) and he is very impressed with the results that I've gotten so far. His comments at my last checkup? Whatever you're doing, keep it up!".
It's encouraging to hear that groups that understand the role of carbs on insulin and diabetes (like the AACE) are getting on board with low carbing. It never made sense to me as a diabetic once I started actually thinking about my disease along with it's causes to eat more of what my body had a problem processing...carbs! Sounds like the obvious inconsistency of that idea is starting to dawn on them, too.
