Post addicted to scale?

Let me just say "naughty! naughty! naughty!".. hehe

One thing we'd all like to do is step on the old scale each day and see another pound gone. But that scale we all try to love, doesn't love us so much. It only seems to cause frustration when over-used. Dr. Atkins book says that once a week is best, as weight fluctuates each day. I find (and I'm sure a lot of people here agree), that using the scale by itself is NOT an accurate way to determine progress.

To check progress, use several things! 1) scale (only 1-2x week!) 2) tape measure 3) clothes that 'used' to fit. do they fit better or worse? 4) skin fold caliper 5) body fat tester - aka electronic handheld gadget that determines body fat based on electrical resistance. and lastly 6) water submersion. highly accurate, but expensive and cumbersome.

Hope this helps!
