Wasabi peas are a Japanese snack that you can buy in Chinese and Japanese grocery stores. The brand name is "Kasugai Peas & You". Go figure!

I used to eat a lot of them in the "olden days"

Maybe finely ground soy grits with wasabl would be a better substitute? I recently found some toasted soy grits but haven't tried them yet.
