I am also hypothyroid and have been doing Atkins since last September. I take Levoxyl.

Please don't give up. I know how discouraged you must be feeling. I hated being obese. (Now I'm "just" overweight.)

I told my oncologist that I was doing Atkins and he said "me too!" I told my GP I was doing Atkins and she said "Lots of people in the office are, too!"

So, see, it just depends on which doctor you talk to.

The other thing to consider is that "they" may say Atkins is bad for you, but "they" also say being obese is bad for you. So what can you do? Consider sticking with Atkins and giving it a good trial run.

And remember that with your thyroid problems, it could be more difficult and take longer for you to lose weight than other people. Just try to hang in there, and remember that nine pounds you lost is a very good start!
