Thanks for the congrats! This is child number 4 for me, so it's like old hat at this point! (Oh, again, really?)

Yes, I am trying to lo carb while pregnant -- BUT NOT A DIET! I try to keep my carbs between 60 - 75. This way I don't gain weight too quickly and I also don't go into ketosis (bad for the baby).

I actually follow CAD more than Atkin's, which allows those extra carbs once a day, but during pregnancy, it's all very modified.

Anything new is difficult, so allow yourself mistakes and allow yourself time to find what works for you. Every one's body is different. Do try to avoid sweets altogethr for the first two weeks (if you're doing Atkin's). You've got to look at it as getting over an addiction. (Strange thinking, I know, but it's truly how our bodies work). Most of us people fighting with our weight are "addicted" to carbohydrates to some degree and we'll get the mental signals to run out and eat sugar as soon as our bodies realize we aren't getting it. We have to suffer with great will power through that period to get to the easier phase where we simply aren't interested in eating them anymore. (Yes, that actually happens!)

Best of luck to you. Tell yourself hourly if you have to, "I can do this!" It's a great way of eating.
