It looks like a big yellowish/orangish ball. Actually, it's slightly larger than a cantelope and the skin is smooth, like watermellon skin.

When DH cooks our squash, he usually cuts it in half, places in a microwave dish, and covers with plastic wrap. Then he cooks it in the micro but I don't know the time on it.
