Dear GirlGeek,

Great for you! You seem to have a lot of discipline and are more or less following the same way of eating as the rest of us. All of us create our own plan to an extent because all of our bodies are different.

Many people however do not stop at one potato chip and go on to finish the bag. It's for these people that leaning on a proven plan in a book is a good idea.

I'm going out to dinner tonight at a friend's house tonight. I'm dreading it - I don't know what I'll be expected to eat - but I'll eat what I want and if I suddenly gain weight I know what to do to get rid of it again.

The people who write these books are doctors who has worked with hundreds of obese and overweight people - and let's be honest, if we all had iron strong will power maybe we wouldn't be overweight in the first place!

Not you nor anyone else has to do it anyone's way - but let's hope the way individuals chose works - the sad stories on these pages shown that often it doesn't.
