Dear Paleoanth,
Believe me, I have every idea how bad it was. The first time I bought a bar of diabetic chocolate (100g) I ate the lot. I've never had such gas in my life  and I was ill for about 2 days! Now I use polyols as a deliberate laxative when I can't go. Two or three spoons of my homemade jam will soon shift me!
