The Atkins plan allows you to subtract the fiber from the total carb count in order for you to get the carb count that "counts". The theory is that the fiber is not digestible, so therefore does not have an effect on blood sugar.
Some countries allow labeling that already has the fiber subracted in the total carb count - be sure to check the labelin!
