Anyone try Atkins Flakes or any other cereal?

I didn't realise that there was a cereal to be had. Has anyone tried this yet? I'm curious about the one with the almonds... Or any other good breakfast cereals??

Thanks

I have tried the plain flakes by Atkins and they are not too bad. I added a half a cup of strawberries and heavy whipping cream and I did enjoy it. I also like the hot cereal from Atkins, taste like oatmeal.

I know there is a low carb cereal called protein crunch that is almost all protein but I have not tried it yet and have no idea how it is. It looks very expensive though.

There is also a cereal made by Keto I think that is called Keto Crunchies (not sure about this), but I haven't tried that either. I think it has gotten some reviews on the board though.

If you are desperate for cereal, maybe you will want to try one of these two?

There's quite a few posts and threads about Hot AND Cold Cereal in this Products forum, also in the Reviews - Keto Products and More thread "stuck" at the top of this Forum.

You'll have tons of fun using the SEARCH feature and get all those opinions already expressed before you invest in any of the 'cereals'...

There's even a post stuck at the top of this forum, full of tips about the SEARCH feature :D

Hi Judi,

I did do a search for Atkins Flakes before posting and nothing came up. Poo!!

As far as the Keto products, I'm not going there again-YUK!!

I'll hunt for the other one or just try the Atkins... Sounds yummy and an alternative to eggs!! :)

Thanks everyone!!

Atkins cereal with almonds

Hi,

The Atkins cereal with almonds is quite yummy I think. I have it with 1/2 cup cream & cold water mixture (mixed in measuring cup before pouring on cereal- 50% cream, 50% water). It was quite good. I haven't been able to find it in any local stores and wound up ordering it thru his website. As someone else mentioned, the hot cereal is good too and is a lot like oatmeal. But it is higher in carbs than the cold cereal, so not on his list for induction. But the cold cereal is, yipee!

Hope you enjoy them.

Oops! I meant for this post as a reply to Christy P. below, not a new thread. Sorry!

Hi Crysti!
I haven't tried the Atkins cereal but I am a HUGE fan of flaxomeal, every flavor I've tried is so delicious, and the Keto Cocoa crisp is really good (I thought so anyway, I can't figure out why nobody else likes it!) The Keto hot cereal blueberry creme is pretty good too, a lot different than flaxomeal. Somebody else on the board said it's kinda like blueberry muffin mix and after having it for the first time yesterday, I have to agree! I found a recipe called "cream of almonds" that tastes a lot like cream of wheat if not better, you could try that. I used almonds ground in a food processor then tried it with almond flour (which I liked better... who knows why?) I might try substituting some water for some of the cream to cut down on the carbs somewhat.

Hot Cream of Almonds
Take 1/3 to 1/2 cup of our almond flour and add about 1/4 cup of cream, 2 packets of Splenda (and flavoring if desired). Place in microwaveable bowl and microwave on high for 20-40 seconds (depending on your microwave strenght), remove, stir and eat!

I've also had "Gram's LC granola" and really it's mostly nuts with some wheat bran and flax meal and splenda. I have some recipes for LC granola I found on this board if you want them. I put some in a bowl and add cream.. it's really heavenly except it's hard to stop at 1/3 cup.

Hey Sheri,

I'd love those recipes. I love granola and am looking for different breakfast items to try out. Just placed my order for my flaxomeal cereals and can't wait to try them!! I wish someone would open a store where all this stuff can be bought here, would save some cash.

Please either email those to me or post them here, thanks Sheri!

Crysti,
good golly lady, is that picture you? (or the last picture you had up?) If so, you look like a movie starlette! I hope you like the flaxomeal! I eat it every day after work and look foward to it all day!! ha ha
I tried making it myself but dont' mind paying a little for the yummy flavors. Also when I make it the carb counts are higher for some reason...
I've been meaning to make my own version of granola. If I ever perfect it, I'll give you the recipe for sure!

this was origionally posted by Laura-Lyn. If it works out good, let me know! :)

Low Carb Granola
2 cups All Bran with extra fibre
1 cup sliced almonds
1 cup pecan bits
1 cup pumpkin seeds
1 cup coconut pieces
1 1/2 cups unsweetened shredded coconut
cinnamon
splenda
about a half cup butter

spread it out in a large baking pan
pour melted butter over it
bake it at 350 for as long as it takes to get toasty and slightly dark
stir often (about every ten minutes to distribute the butter)
Remove from oven, let cool completely and store in jars

Hey there!

Nope, neither one is me!! The last one was Edie Sedgwick, a Warhol STAR and cool chick, I'm facinated by her! And this one is Peggy Moffit, a famous 60's model. VERY cool!

I'll give that granola a shot someday soon. I'll have to change it a bit as I HATE coconut! LOL!! :D

I'm glad things are lookin' up for you! Thanks for the recipe. :D
