carb count in cream cheese

Hi all, I have been confused lately when reading the carb counts from some homemade recipes.People seem to be only counting 1 gram of carb per 2 tablespoons of cream cheese, yet my box of philidelphia states that it is one carb per 1 tablespoon.I've also noticed that the carb counters don't count it as high as the package does.I've missed something wonderful here somewhere on why we don't go by what the package says. Can someone please fill me in,I don't want to be cheated out of having more cheesecake if I can!LOL
thanks all
Wendy

Here is what our carb counter says about it:

It doesn't tell me about ounces though...I wanted to know what the count is for an ounce of cream cheese.

Hi there, yes I did see what the carb counter reports for the cream cheese, which is why ist's confusing that the label says something different. 2 tablespoons are equal to an ounce.that should help you figure it out wiht this carb counter. good luck

Hi Wendy,

According to www.fitday.com 1 tablespoon cream cheese has 0.386g carbs. Maybe your box is rounding up?

Hi Rosebud, you know your probably right, this is Canada, maybe they have to do that.but that is quite a difference when you use a whole 8 oz.of cream cheese in a recipe, 16 carbs as opposed to 8 carbs, I would much rather count 8,I guess I will and if I gain weight then I'll go back to counting it as 16 carbs.Oh the confusing world of carb counting!LOL
happy low carbing
