Protein - how much is too much?
 
So how much is considered too much that it can impede on weight loss??

My protein is anywhere from 70-100 a day....I do notice that when my protein is on the lower end I tend to lose a bit faster but not always...other factors also have to do with it.

Just curious - anyone eating under 70 grams a day and losing successfully? Anyone eating more than 100 and losing successfully?

SOmetimes this WOE can be so confusing :)

This is a question for Nat if I ever saw one. I don't have a real answer, but I'm sure that 100g isn't too much. My impression (from reading PP) is that you'd have to eat a LOT more than your daily minimum requirement -- and 60g per day is their minimum requirement for a five-foot, 100 lb woman. (That's the bottom of their scale.) They go on to say that having met this minimum, you can enjoy a protein snack (lean meat, chicken, fish or jerky) any time you feel hungry "without disrupting your metabolic harmony or interfereing with your metabolic rehabilitation."

Of course, it's possible to go overboard with anything, but I think you'd have to go a long way to get there.

Yvonne,

Since I had the book in hand anyway to look up that quotation, I took the liberty of checking their chart for your height and current weight. They suggest a minimum of 27 grams per meal, or 81g per day, with extra protein snacks should you want them.
