sugar twin

until recently, ive been using sugar twin as a sweetener; mostly for coffee. since lc'ing i've switched to splenda...BUT i recently read this in an article posted under 'the truth about low carb sweetners' about sugar twin, available only in canada:

"Also available in Canada is cyclamate (SugarTwin, Sucaryl), a zero-calorie/carb sweetener. There is still some controsversy that this chemical may cause bladder cancer in rats; it has never occured in humans in over 30 years of study. It is still banned in the US".

it appears not to contain aspartame, which i hear is a good thing.

the question i have is....does it make any difference to use splenda as opposed to sugar twin?. i dont use much, 2 packets/day usually.

any suggestions?

Carb wise, not really.

Taste-wise, using the two together will work synergistically and you can use much less of each. The taste is more like real sugar.

Health wise, who knows? They're both some bizarre chemical concoction!

thanks karen...as i say, i dont use much...and i have to look a little harder to get the splenda...so if its same for same, then i'll probably use the sugar twin!
