Cool!

This is my 8th day of Induction, and after a week's full of feeling fatigued, I weighed myself and have shed 5 lbs.

Naturally, most of it is probably water loss, I would presume. Nonetheless, it is pleasant to know--even with all the side effects--to have eaten as liberally as I have and still lost 5 lbs.

Hopefully, after Induction, my energy will return.

Congratulations! It's very nice to see that first change. You should start to see increased energy as your body adjusts and as you add more veggies.

Make sure you're drinking water and eating veggies! YAY for that first drop. Feels great, doesn't it?

Thanks Skamito!

Indeed, I certainly feel elated with the quick results. It somehow makes all the week's challenges worth it especially since in the past being on the low fat/high carb diet has never worked for me. On top of all that, I was famished all the time. With that experience behind me, it makes this morning's progress that much more rewarding.

I will note that all the reassurances from those here who have stipulated that eventually one feels normal again--energy wise--is invaluable for my state of mind.

Thanks!

Good for you, I am starting tomorrow and seeing results like yours in the first week give added incentive. Glad to hear that you are starting to feel better.

You might want to think about adding a potassium supplement if you haven't done so already. That's often part of the problem with low energy.

Thanks Koko!

Hi Gale. Yes, you're absolutely right. I've analyzed what I've been eating while on this diet, and my potassium intake is much less than my norm while my sodium intake is much higher. In the past, I've always tried to at the very least keep it a one to one ratio.

I have considered adding a supplement, but not entirely convinced it would be as effective as extracting potassium naturally from foods.

That being said, I have begun to take a one a day multivitamin. Of course, the mgs of postassium wouldn't be nearly as high as a specific potassium suppliment. My plan now is to tough it out one more week and once off Induction, I can easily raise my potassium level to what it was in the past.
