need more calories?

According to the rule that we should be eating 10 to 12 times our body wt. in calories, I should be eating 2130--2556 calories, yet fitday has shown me I am doing my best and only getting about 1700. This could be why I am not losing much but I don't know what else I can eat that is high in calories and low in carbs. My journal has it broken down.

Ladybug,

10-12 times your goal weight, not your current weight. That would be 1530 to 1836. So, you're right on track!

I was told to eat 10-12x your current weight and adjust it as you lose weight. Which is correct?

From the quick search I just did, here's a good average thread: which is it?.

The guideline is to help people make sure they are eating over their basal metabolic rate.

This question comes up a lot - maybe a sticky is in order?

I am more confused than before. Maybe I will write the Atkins Center about this, after I check my book

Re: 10X-12X RULE!

This seems to be a really hard point to get across....for more information look on the side menu to the right for "low-carb links" then click on "FAQ".
From there, scroll down to "Calories".

I hope this helps clear up any misconceptions!

Ok, I guess I'll go for the 10-12x my goal weight. I've been eating between 1500 - 1800 calories a day, so I don't think I'm that much off anyway. Now that I think about it, it does make more sense to eat according to your goal weight. Thanks for clearing it up for me :)

I emailed the Atkins Center, I will post any replies
