i have a question. i dont understand about the sweetners. why is art. sweetners better if they dont have saccrine and you know that other stuff. everyone says that splenda is the best. why?

Hi Aimie,

Personally, I can't stand the taste of saccharine & cyclamates, and for that reason alone I prefer Splenda.

If you check your Atkins book, you'll find Dr Atkins says that several sweeteners are okay, including Splenda, saccharine, cyclamate and acesulfame-K. He discourages the use of aspartame (Nutrasweet, Equal) because of questions about its safety.

Atkins also says that Stevia is OK for sweetening. It has a particular taste (can be rather like licorice in some forms) but you can get used to it.

Splenda is very versatile in that you can bake with it and substitute it for sugar & get the same results.

thanks alot i purchased some splenda and diet rite today. maybe it will work better for me. i feel like i should have lost more weight, but that is ok i realize that i have to stop consuming certain things. i think the caffeine may be a factor also. thanks for the info.
