Alcoholic Drinks? Please help

Hi, I'm just starting the low-carb Atkins diet. I'm a very social person and go out from time to time with friends etc... And sometimes involves alcohol. I'm mostly a beer drinker which I know is out the window on a low-carb diet. Does anybody know of any low-carb alocholic drinks or certain types? I would appreciate any help on this subject. The easy way is to just never drink but easy to say harder to in social situations.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Yeah

I'm a beer drinker too, give Mich Ultra a try, only 2.6g carbs. It tastes pretty decent too. For mixed drinks you could try rum & d/ coke or vodka & d/Sprite. Alcohol stalls some people, it just kinda passes through me.

Hi there,

Here is a list of beverages from LowCarbFriends.

Just bear in mind that the body uses alcohol first for fuel, so that drinking tends to slow down any weight loss.

Cheers.

I go out nearly every week and I drink vodka and diet coke which technically is carb free. However, I don't consider it to be because the body will burn the alcohol before the fat.

Any spirit with a diet mixer is good.

And a word of warning: When you're LCing you only need about 1/2 the alcohol you used to drink to got a MAJOR buzz going. Be very careful and never, never drive while drinking, ok???

Thanks!

Thanks everybody for your replies, it will help a lot. It sounds like the best way is to just stay away from drinking as much as possible, but when it does happen I have some Ideas thanks to all of you.

Thanks,
Corey ;)
