I would like to eat pancakes in the first 14 days. Is this ok for breakfast? Has anyone tried any of the following and which would you recommend.

Atkins Nutritionals Quick and Easy Pancake and Waffle Mix
Carbolite Pancake Mix, Low Carb
Carbolite Pancake Mix, Zero Carb
CarbSense Pancake and Waffle Mix, Buttermilk
Keto Keto Syrup, Maple Butter
Ketogenics Zero Carb Pancake Syrup, Maple Butter ZonePerfect ZonePerfect Pancake and Waffle Mix

You really shouldn't have pancakes till after industion you know!

Anyway if you must, instead of these expensive mixes why not try a mix of half soy flour half protein powder. Mix with more eggs than you would a normal pancake mix plus a litttle water and cream. Make the mix a bit dryer than for normal pancakes. Fry slowly in a butter. Delicious. (Using the protein powder cut the number of carbs - you can make them with all soy flour).

Pork rind pancakes

Hi~
There is a recipe here in the breakfast forum for pancakes made with pork rinds.............sounds bizarre but they are great and lower in carbs..........I made the atkins ones form the mix and they were horrid..........save for after induction though........induction is about the very basics to get your body into fat burning mode.........after that there is plenty of time to try out all the new foods~ And the closer you stick to "real" food the better it is~

re: pancakes

I have a wonderful  easy pancake recipe..
1/4 c. of soy protein powder (no carbs)
1 egg (1 carb)
and enough water to make the right consistency.

Spray pan with pam. Add mixture to the hot pan. (mixture is thick!!!). Fry on both sides until golden. Slather with butter and atkin's syrup. WONDERFUL!!!

Just wanted to chime in and say that yes, the Atkins pancake mix is HORRIBLE. My husband actually spit it out!

I've never tried Atkin's pancakes as I can't try buy the mix.

Why don't you try my recipe above before you say 'bleh'. My flatmate eats soy pancakes with relish and he's not on a low carb diet...and I can tell you. There is little Russians don't know about pancakes.

I ordered the Atkins pancake mix and syrup from their website several months ago...........I was sooooooo ready for pancakes..........and so looking forward to them coming......yikes!! They really were horrid~

Amazingly enough there is a recipe on the breakfast forum for pancakes made with crushed pork rinds. It is called french toast.......sounds pretty awful too but it is not bad at all! You can also make them into waffels which are good, crispier~

DaVinci pancake syrup is thicker than the Atkins syrup too........to me the Atkins syrup tasted like maple flavored water~

We were so looking forward to making the pork rind pancakes, and while they looked perfect, they tasted AWFUL!!

I was so disappointed, I haven't tried any other pancake recipes since.

The one thing about most low carb replacements for high carb foods, especially bread type products is that if you expect them to taste like the "real" thing you are almost always dissapointed.
I guess for me after awhile I am bored with what I usually eat so something new is pretty good........it's all relative~ *s*

I love the French Toast recipe in there with the Pork Rind.I added some strong Maple Flavoring to it and to me it does taste like the good stuff cooked in Bacon fat.I found some LC maple syrup substitute that was palatable at WalMartand put a dollop of Sour Cream to the side.
