Hi!

I've had days like that myself...one day I can't hardly look at food...the next, I am ravenous.
I think it is normal since our bodies are still adjusting to this WOE.
Just hang in there!

Eat if you are hungry! I love Atkins! You are allowed to eat whenever you are hungry. Just keep within your total carbs. There is no need to question who you are.... you are finding your WOL here so figure out how to eat to make yourself feel satisfied.

FYI - I believe I am abnormal as well. I eat all day long 5 smallish meals but it helps me.

Are you getting enough fat? If you are, then go ahead and eat if you are hungry...just eat something low in carbs. If you aren't getting enough fat, try adding more in the form of olive oil, butter and mayonnaise along with full-fat salad dressings. :)

Hard to answer without knowing what you're eating, but I'd say eat!

Since starting this a year ago, I rarely let myself get hungry. If I do, it's because I'm so busy that I just don't want to stop what I'm doing.

And P.S....my appetite comes and goes like yours...

Check out those more frequent, smaller meals. Or experiment with some LC snacks. I usually find that I don't need much of a snack to quench hunger. Even a few slices of salami or some cheese works for me.

The good news is that like the loss of appetite, this too will pass.

Fat... not enough hmmmm?

I Think that just might be the problem.
I do have a journal, I mostly post my breakfast and lunch in there but try to put diner in also.
Feel free to go check it out and see if that might be the prob.

Who woulda thunk it?

lkonzelman Thu, Jan-16-03 13:17

Hi ... I just popped over to read your journal and I would say add more fats... dressings... mayo.... butter.... see if that helps. If not just add more allowable foods.

All the best.

Are you using any shakes or having any meal replacement bars? They can cause cravings and increased hunger in some people. Posting what you're eating can be helpful for us to take a look at.

T-bone steak! When I have a day that I am starving, I make myself a big t-bone steak with a large side of broccoli with melted butter on top. Then I snack on some nuts for dessert. There is no way to stay hungry after eating that. On less hungry days, I am satisfied with fish or chicken for dinner, or even a chef's salad. On hungry days, I need lots of red meat!

The hunger seems to go in circles. This week I am not hungry at all and have to remind myself to eat. A few weeks ago, I was eating every couple of hours and craving red meat.

This whole week has been a hungry week!! I added Macadamia nuts to my menu! I think they are causing the problem. 1 oz of nuts doesn't do it for me ! I would rather have none. Go back to the celery with cream cheese for a snack.

Did anyone else have a problem when they added in nuts?

Skamito Sat, Jan-18-03 20:05

My biggest problem with nuts is that I like them so much I can eat a whole can. :daze: Trick is to definitively separate portions for me.

I'm sure that some people have a sensitivity to nuts, so of course if you find you can't eat them without feeling hungry, just cut them out. Always listen to that crazy body. ;)

Happy low-carbing hungry kids!
