Glutamine or Glucosomine?

Hey All -
I'm 23 and have been downhill ski racing since I was about 7 ...So my knees are fairly messy at this point. I have just started on Atkins and my coach recommended Glucosomine to help repair my joints / knees. When I skimmed through this category, though, everyone seems to recommend Glutamine for LCing. Both seem to help repair tissue, but is one better than the other? Is it a problem to start on both?

I've read the threads on Glutamine (i.e. power vs. pill form) but wanted to post this before going out and buying some. Would the Glutamine also help me with my joints?

Thanks for your time!!

Hi Jodifer,

Glutamine can help prevent muscle soreness and also helps prevent sweet cravings (in smaller doses) but has no effect on joints.

Glucosamine is an entirely different substance, and should definitely help repair joints.

I can't see any problem with taking them together.

All the best!

I've had bad knees since my college football some 15 years ago. Danm, I'm getting old. Anyway, I've been taking a liquid glucosamine/chondrotine called 'Joint Care'. This is great and so much better than the pills I use to take.
