Feeling really down tonight

I had a doctor appointment this morning and he found a large mass in my breast. When I left his office, my first thought was to stop and buy a pack of cigarettes. I quit smoking one year ago on the first Tuesday of December. I didn't get the cigarettes. I went back to my office and confided in my friends there then tried to work while I was mostly feeling afraid and sorry for myself. Now I guess I am confiding in my friends here online while I am feeling afraid and sorry for myself. They can't get the mammogram done until Monday morning and then it will probably be three days after that before I know anything else. It's going to be a long weekend and up until this morning I had really been looking forward to a couple of days off work.

Twinkle: I'm sorry you are going through this right now. Even though the mass may turn out to be nothing, I know that doesn't stop you from being scared. I am sending good thoughts your way, as I am sure all the people in these forums are. Try to stay positive, and let us know how things turn out. In the meantime, continue to be good to yourself. You deserve it.

Twinkle, just wanted to let you know that I am so sorry you have to wait for the mammogram.............I hope that you can find something to do to take your mind off this.
Good going on not buying the cigarettes........they won't help.....and you KNOW that!!!!!!
Sending many hugs and good thoughts that you will come through this with no problems.

Twinkel,
I am sorry to hear you are having problems I don't know what they are thinking twice I have had to wait and worry only to find out nothing was wrong. Take heart and don't start smoking again it is not worth it and it's so easy fall into the demon nicotine's clutches. Pat

Wow, Twinkle!

I'm sorry you're facing such a stressful situation. :there:
Consider yourself hugged and please try not to get too stressed (I know, easier said than done to be sure) because stressing over it isn't going to change anything and will just add to your feeling miserable. Try to keep yourself busy and occupied to keep your mind off it for now and I hope that the mammogram shows that it's nothing serious.

I understand where you are.

On April 19th of 2003 it will be seven years ago that my doctor found a mass in my breast. In most cases, it is benign and you won't have anything more than an unpleasant memory of the next few days that you will spend worrying.

So you do need to try to relax and to quote my grandmother "don't borrow trouble". I know that's easier said than done.

Now to Monday when you have your mammogram -- if it does come back and show that you have a problem -- if you have breast cancer. It is not an automatic death sentence and you need to realize that. There are so many different treatments and medicines available now depending on the type of cancer and the stage.

I had breast cancer. It was Stage II. I had a lumpectomy, chemo, and radiation. There are a lot of us out there.

The best thing you can do is inform yourself. You've learned how good it is to have a forum like this one that will give you useful information. There are many many breast cancer information sites. And knowing your enemy is a great step up.

Please let me help you if I can. I will give you any information or support you need. I've walked in your path and I will make it easier if I can.

Dear Twinkle I hope you have arms you can really feel around you. if not, here are some that I send to you: :bhug: :bhug: :bhug:

I had a breast discharge a few years ago and had an exploratory surgery for it. I was fortunate that it was nothing important. So may yours be. Hang on to the present. Don't live in the "possible" or "may happen".

Right now you are in the "I have something that has to be checked into" phase. Don't go any farther unless you find you need to. This is not easy, but it IS possible.

And if there is something to treat, it IS IS IS IS IS IS IS treatable. AND CURABLE.

Holding you in my prayers and thoughts this weekend - try NOT to think until you know something.

Hugs. BarB  :bhug:

Hello Twinkle,

I dont' know you but I feel for you. I don't know how you feel but I'm sending you my best thoughts. My mom is going through the same thing (Dr. informed her of a lump, her third though, and she has to wait for the mamogram). She won't talk about it with me so I just send her my best thoughts and good energy. I'm going to send these to you too. I thank you that you have given me an opportunity to express my well wishes, since I can't with my own mother. Hang tough and allow all of the great energy that is flowing your way penetrate your thoughts and lift you up. You are not alone. We are all connected in a one way or another, allow this moment in your life to show you your connections.

Bless you,
Gina.

Dear Twinkle,

I know it's difficult for a man to understand what you're going through, but I have a female cousin who went through just what you're going through about three years ago. All turned out fine for her by.

I don't know if you are religious, but I lit a candle and said a little prayer for you in Minsk Orthodox Chrisitan cathedral here in Belarus this afternoon.

People all over the world are saying there own prayers for you or just trying to send you positive vibes and feelings.

You are not alone in this ;) .
