What is the envelope that appears next to the thread title? Sometimes it has stuff in it, sometimes it doesn't.... what does it all mean?

If you click right above here where it says "Comments Box and Technical Questions" .. then scroll down to the bottom of the page, you'll see a legend explaining what the different envelope symbols mean.
