Movie/about a chef

Hi Karen,
I don't know if you ever go to the movies but if you get a chance please go see "Mostly Martha." If you can't go see it look at the reviews on the internet.

It is about a chef in a very high class restaurant in Germany and it is so wonderful. Anyone who enjoys cooking and life itself will enjoy this movie. It is in sub-titles but it is great. The minute I saw it I said I must tell Karen about it.
It developes her(Martha's) career as a chef and her personal life.

Many thanks to you again for all your recipes. I haven't tried one yet that wasn't just fabulous.

Happy Day to you, Judy in Charlotte, N.C.

Another movie that has a lot of cooking in it is "Like Water For Chocolate." It is also in subtitles and is without a doubt one of the funniest movies I've ever seen. The book was good, too.

Hi Karen,

Thank you for the name of another movie with cooking in it,I will try to rent it soon.

I have a question for you about a cookbook.I would like to know your opinion on "Back to Protein" by Barbara Doyen. I have seen reviews on many of the L.C. books but I have never seen anything about this one. Thank you and Happiness to you, Judy

Hi Judyt,

Sorry, I haven't read it. THe only LC cookbook I've read is Fran McCulloughs Living Low Carb. Usually my cookbook reading centers around "regular" cookbooks and believe it or not, I still read dessert books. I get lots of ideas from carb-centric cookbooks and magazines and there are some pretty good desserts that can be adapted for LC eating.

Anyhoo, I'm working on an LC cookbook right now that should be out next fall.

It was actually asugar that suggested Like Water for Chocolate. It's a favourite too and one of my favourites is Babette's Feast as well as some of the food scenes in Goodfellas, especially the one where they're cooking in jail. I love the way they slice the garlic so thinly with a razor blade in that scene!
