where to get unsweetened baker's chocolate?

Hi all,
does anyone know where I could get any unsweetened baker's chocolate. I have heard that this product while common in all supermarkets throughout the U.S. is for some crazy reason as yet unavailable in Australia. Please expose this rumor as false...

G'day Hugo,

I have heard through the jungle grape vines that it is available (and pricey!) at some specialist chocolate shops. Haven't seen any myself though.

Anyone??

I live in Melbourne and there is a USA grocery shop in Bentleigh. I buy Bakers unsweetened chocolate there at $10 an 8oz block. And may I say, I made similar to Reece's Peanut Butter Cups yesterday that were to die for.

They also have Liquid Smoke, Jell-O Unsweetened Chocolate and Vanilla Pudding mix.

I am trying to find Belguim Cooking Chocolate. Anybody know where, it would be great.

Thanks for the info:

The address of the above store is: USA Foods, 11 Nicholson Street, Bentleigh. Ph:(03)9576 5655

I also have a number for Calaubro Unsweetened bakers chocolate, I'm not sure if it's Belgium or not but it's meant to be the best. $90 for 5 kilos though and apparently you can only get it in 5 kilo blocks.

- Creative Ingredients - Brunswick ph:(03)9388-8999

and a place called Vital Ingredients - 206 Clarendon Street, Sth Melbourne ph: (03)9696 3511

Does anyone know if it's possible to get these things in NZ, and if so, where?

Thanks

Thanks Hugo.

I will definitely check them out. Belguim chocolate is obviously must better in flavour thatn Bakers, but beggers can't be choosers and this way it gives me so many options.

There will be about 3 of us who could be interested if the other is Belguim, which makes it a bit more affordable. May I add that the Bakers from Bentleigh is $10 for 250g!!!

Dale
