Timing and Supplements
Could anyone tell me if there is a benefit to taking your vitams, chromium etc... at certain times of the day ? Thanks.

Good question ......
I have also been wondering if there's any benefit (or lack of) taking vitimins and supplements in a particular mix or order. I currently take all at once in the am:
Udo Oil, Whey, Greens, 400 E, 1000 C, 200 chromium, 1 heavy duty multi, 400/200 calmag, 50 potassium, & 500 green tea. Later in the day I'll take more calmag (400/200 with every meal plus one before bed), another 500 green tea, a stress tab(B complex w/ another 1000 C), a salmon oil capsul with dinner and a Tbsp. of Metamucil before bed. Any problem with "mixing"? Does it matter if you take your C with your green tea? or your calmag with your chromium? My worry is that the benefits might be lessened somehow. See, I have alot of time to think while swallowing all those bloody pills. Janice |
When to take vitamins
I usually see the recomendation to take multivitamins three times a day rather than all at one time. On the other stuff I don't know. That's just too hard for me to manage unless someone can convince me that it's REAL important. I still take them all in the morning.

I would like to know more specifics too. Here is what I've researched:
Take no more than 1000mg vitamin C at a time. Any more and your body excretes it in your urine. Also vitamin C only lasts for 4-5 hours in your body so its best to split into three doses. Take the antioxidants together, C, E, they work in synergy (better when you take them together). Take E and lecithin with food as they're absorbed better because they're oil soluble. Take B vitamins after or with a meal because they can cause naseau for hours when taken on an empty stomach. It's better to split doses into 2-3 because the body can only use/absorb so much at a time. Take calcium with food as it's better absorbed. Do not take vitamin C with tea or coffee the tanic acid destroys the vitamin C. Hope some of this helps. |
