Other Names for Sugar/Carbs

Hi all!!! Does anyone know where I can find a list of ALL the names for sugar/carbs? I'm not talking about just the obvious ones like sucrose and fructose. I mean ALL the names. I searched the net for 2 hours last night and couldn't find a list.

I have some questionable ingredients in my vitamin/herb supplements that I'm either not sure if it is sugar/carbs or if the small amount in the vitamin will hurt my diet.

I have been looking for supplements without questionable ingredients but it seems that all the ones I need contain glycerin or maltodextrin or something else.

Here is a list of questionable ingredients in some of my vitamins:

maltodextrin
cellulose (vegetable or microcrystalline
dextrose
glycerin
gelatin
magnesium stearate/vegetable mag. stearate
potato starch
croscarmellose
gluconate
rice flower

Do any of you have any info on whether the amount of any of these items in a vitamin will throw me off track? I take several supplements with these ingredients and I take some of them 3 times a day. So, it could really make a difference. The problem is that I am taking all these things for a reason, I can't just stop forever.

A complete list of sugar names would be a HUGE help. Also, if anyone knows of a company that makes vitamins and herbs without these additives, can you please tell me?

Thank you so much!

First check out the articles right on this site under Low Carb Tips at the top of the page called Sugar Alcohols and Hidden Carbs.

And for the rest...

cellulose - a vegetable fiber
gelatin - is what makes Jell-o jell. It's a protein derived from collagen in bones and skin
magnesium stearate - a mold inhibitor
potato starch -starch from potatoes
croscarmellose - a dissolution accelerator for tablets. Contains no sugar or starch
gluconate - a salt or ester of a crystalline acid
rice flour - finely ground rice

You can take this for what it's worth to you Shasta, but from reading your posts it seems like you're sweating too much over the small stuff. Follow your chosen plan as written and as you get more comfortable, learn as you go and grow along with it. Don't fret and nitpick the details to death unless you have a medical condition that warrants it.

Thank you for the list.

I appreciate your advice, but I think this is something to "sweat" over. I take so many supplements everyday (about 40 pills-doctor recommended) that it would be easy to go over 20 carbs in supplements alone if any of them contained sugars or carbs. It would be pretty silly to follow a strict WOE and not lose because of the vitamins I am taking.

Do you not agree? Are the amounts of additives in vitamins too small to affect weight loss?

Thanks again for responding!

PS: I have only lost weight on days that I didn't take most of my supplements. I'm trying to figure out if it is a coincidence or not.
