Welcome

Hi Mal,

Read the label. I can't comment - there are many brands.

Personally I don't like corned beef. It is too salty - at least the ones I have tried a few times.

Salt helps you hold on to water.

Take care.

Mal

Corned beef can be a useful addition to your diet. It is very fatty and high in calories, so you may not want to eat to much. I do not know how many carbs are in the stuff you can buy sliced at the deli counter in the supermarkets, but the tins I got have 1 g carbs per 100g. It is quite a dense meat and you can easily eat 200g.

As Fiona says take a good look at the label. There is a message in this UK forum about using corned beef as the pastry for quiche. I've tried it, its not bad, but again, don't use too much.

Corned Beef

I just happen to have a tin of Princes Corned Beef in my cupboard - the labels says:

Carbs 0.5 per 100gs
Fat 13.5
Protein 24.8

The whole tin is 340gms so that's 1.7 carbs

Chrissy,

{...Corned Beef 11 and Baked Egg Custard desserts ..} I am not sure. Perhaps they are recipies Chris posted in the Kitchen section?

I'll keep my eye open. ;)

Mal, I would expect Doner Kebabs would have carbs in them. They must use some filler to stick it all together. If you don't eat the bread perhaps it would be okay for when you are out.

Take care.

I love corned beef for cooking this is fabulous... I would never go back to using potatoes when I tried the veg topping.

Cornedbeef Cottage Pie

Ingredients:
Tin of corned beef
1/2 onion (Optional)
1/2 Green or red pepper (Optional)
Tbl sp oil

Cauliflower/Turnip mash
Grated Cheese
Butter
Fresh cream

Fry onion and pepper in oil add corned beef and fry until moist. Place in oven proof dish, top with a mix of cauli and turnip mashed with butter and fresh cream to taste. Cover with grated cheese bake in moderate oven 10/15 minutes until cheese is golden. Enjoy....

Can use tinned Chunky Steak in place of corned beef low in carbs too!

Good to c u again, Chris

Hi Chris, nice to see you again. Glad to see you are still doing Atkins and cooking for yourself too  .

Thanks for the new corned beef recipe. Kitchen Corner would be a better place to post it or start a new thread perhaps.

Now that you are here, can you give us an answer to

Hi Fiona

I love this diet I will never return to carbs as before. The feeling of being in control of my appetite is such a novelty. Being able to refuse food leaves my family and friends flabbergasted. I feel 20 years younger. My tennis elbow and bad knee have disappeared. Life is wonderful I no longer look in the mirror and hate myself. “God bless Atkin and all who sail in her…….”

Oh yes and the recipes......
These recipes of mine seem to have disappeared from UK thread.
