Low carb diets and ciclosporin

Does anyone know what the effect of a low carb / high protein diet is on blood creatinine levels? A friend has to take ciclosporin for psoriasis, this drug raises creatinine and she is worried that the high protein content of the diet would raise it further.

She is going to check this with her physician anyway, however thought someone may know the answer as it may have cropped up before............

Many thanks

Hi Jan! Remember that low carb does not mean high protein. Most low carb programs specify getting adequate protein, adequate fat, and limited carbohydrate. It only seems like high protein because "career" dieters are used to surviving on melba toast, lettuce and water.

HTH!
