Bad Trans Fats vs Good Fats
My cholestral levels were high when I had my blood tested 3 mths ago and I have been on the Aitkins diet now 27 days i am about to have a check up.Frankly I was a brown rice, fruit and lean chicken guy no butter for 15 years !!Ha I will be utterly dismayed if my cholesteral levels have dropped --we shall see.
My dad died 4 yrs ago from heart disease at 65 and I am terrified that I am going the same route now..because whilst the diet makes sense in theory in reality: I have been eating masses of the following cheese eggs macadamia nuts steak pork bacon butter clotted cream Should I start to replace some of these high protein high animal fat items with stuff like fish tofu ??? ??? is there a comprehensive plan that specifies specific items to eat other than just recipies. Can anyone suggest any moderate menu plans that are not as high in saturated fats. Thanks Richard |
Richard, I would suggest you get your hands on a copy of Protein Power - the Eades do a wonderful job explaining just why LC works to lower your lipid profile, your blood pressure and your blood sugar levels. Also, have a look through the Cholesterol/Heart Disease sub forum of the General Health Issues forum. There are many threads about people who have LOWERED their levels eating this way.
It takes a good 3 months for the changes to become evident - why not continue on as you have and have them checked then? Nat |
I agree with Natrushka - carry on with your plan. Please post the results of your bloodwork when you get it done - We want to celebrate with you (I just know you will see an improvement)!

Thanks for the encouragement. I have started a journal, I gained 3 lbs, will start KISS tomorrow.
Have scheduled the blood tests tomorrow. What is the correct dosage of pantethine mgs? The book says 900-1000 but my mega pack softgells ATKINS BRAND says 450mg ie 1 per day. Anyone know Richard  |
