Need help in what to add to a smoothy

Hi all so I was wondering what I could add for a great tasting smoothy. I was using frozen yogurt for my peanut butter smoothies but now that I am back to watching my Carbs I was wondering what I could use as a replacement ? I am using almond Butter and Almond milk but need something else to make it thicker. I am also looking at using raspberries for a smoothie idea. Any help would be great and I am looking at staying below 20 grams again for about a month

I like blueberries or strawberries, greek yogurt and hemp hearts with almond milk and ice.

Depending on the flavor you're going for coconut milk or avocado can be good. If you need to cut back on carbs you can use berry flavor extract, DaVinci syrup or Monin syrup in place of the berries. (Monin has the best flavor and is the more expensive option.)

Ok well I just went to the store and got a little pack of Hemp Harts and I did get some Greek yogurt but it does seem a little high in Carbs I still need to add the berries. But will see how it goes in the morning.

greek yogurt, tofu, or an ice cube tray of frozen coconut milk cubes will all work as thickeners, which don't add much flavor.

Xanthan Gum and puréed avocado will thicken smoothies. Make sure that the milk, water or cream that you use is either chilled or frozen.

Coconut cream in a can, as long as it is not the sweetened kind. 1/3 cup of my trader joes brand has 4grams.

If you buy FROZEN berries (or freeze your own) and blend them in a blender/magic bullet/ninja with heavy cream, almond milk or greek yogurt, you'll get a thicker smoothie.

thanks for all the idea's. I bought a jar of Coconut flesh in the hopes of making my smoothies taste better.I use to love banna frozen yogurt and some sort of berries but that is way to high in carbs for me right now. I am finding I am not a big fan of Greek Yogurt. Oh well I will miss you smoothies :( until we meet again when I get a little thinner again.

I don't drink smoothies but have seen a recipe around Atkins support boards for an "Egg nog shake" which is made with only induction ingredients.

A web search for "Egg nog shake" and "Induction" should find it quickly.

ACK! I tried that and I got a message that said "the following words are too short or too common and have not been included in your search: egg, nog, shake, induction". WTH??

ps - oh a WEB search. I have it now. But I'm leaving my comment as that really seems to make this forum's search function ineffective. Maybe I'm missing something?

She suggested a web search -- that is, with google or bing or another search engine. The search function on the site here doesn't handle words with four letters or fewer.

You can google to search this site by typing:

site:http://forum.lowcarber.org/

along with your search terms.
