Almond Butter

Does anyone like Almond Butter and what do you make with it. It seems so bitter and doesn't sweeten up for me. I've tried peanut butter cookies with it and it was pretty bad. I thought I could use it like almond meal and fat since it already has oil in it. It is organic made by my local grocery store here.

Almond butter is not supposed to be sweet. If it's raw almond butter, yes, it may be bitter. Roasted almond butter is more palatable but again, not sweet.

I usually buy it already made. I've never detected any bitterness. We generally find it in health food stores like Whole Foods.

I've never had almond butter that tasted bitter. Is it possible that what you bought has expired or has gone stale?

I think the almonds were roasted till almost burnt. The store nearby made it and labelled it. It's such a high end store and I've never had any bad products from them before. I guess there is always a first time.

almond butter is a great alternative to butter and it is delicious.

I made some Mr Peanut bread with mine - I didn't like it from the jar either. It was fine in the "bread" and at least I didn't waste it.

If it's burnt I would return it. Almond butter is expensive and I've never had any that is bitter.

ETA: Oh, this thread is old. (sigh)
