ketones

Hello,

Does the body have to use more energy to produce and use ketones than glucose?

If it does will that mean if a person in ketosis who consumes 1500 calories of mainly protein and fat, would be the equivalant of lets say 1700 calories to a person on high carbs not in ketosis.

The official answer is no. Ketones are burned and then exhaled in your breath (keto breath!), in your sweat, in your urine, in your poop. So you are actually burning fat and getting rid of it multiple ways. Ketones are the remenents of the ash that your body prefers to use for cell repair. Any ketones not used for that purpose and energy is excreted. So not stored! I hope that makes any sense....
