treadmill = big thighs ???????

hi,

is it true that walking on the treadmill makes the thighs big ???

i've started on the threadmill, its been abt 2 weeks.
my jeans feel tight !!

plus, i've kinda stopped losing weight. maybe even gained abit !

is the treadmill a bad idea ?

i'm taking abt 30 to 40g of carbo everyday. and i thot if i walk 30min on the treadmill each day, i'd kill off these 30 to 40g of carbo.

but looks like its backfired !!!!

any advice please ?

All excercise is good

No the treadmill is not going to give you big thighs. Think of it this way; Look at the thighs of Janet Joyner Kersee or Frank Shorter or anyone you see out running and walking. How do there legs look? Now how about looking at the thighs of Anton Ono or Eric Heiden(skaters) Different muscles being built then walkers and runners. Keep walking or running even though it is no fun.

I have been doing treadmill for nearly a month now, 5 x a week for 45-50 mins., 2.7 mph, uphill. I am noticing that I have both lost inches and gained muscle in different places on my thighs and calves. So long as the fat goes away, and I don't hear "swoosh" when my thighs rub together, (which should be very soon!), I could care less about the size of my legs! :D

treadmill = slim thighs

Walking on the treadmill will not make your thighs bigger. Aerobic activity burns fat. The only exception is if your legs are already very skinny with little bodyfat, then the small increase in muscle may cause an increase in girth. However most people need to train with weights to achieve a significant increase in size. Women especially have difficulty bulking up.
