Bleeding nose?

For some reason I seem to be getting bloody noses. Not every day mind you but once or twice a week.

I am having a little seasonal allergies but I don’t remember my nose bleeding this much last year.

I am taking the Atkins basic #3 multivitamin. But do I maybe need something else in my diet? Mainly it consists of meat, and eggs. I am kind of trying to drop as much as I can in 3 months with the goal of rejoining the army.

Any thoughts?
Dave

maybe your nose is just dry

I know when mine is dry it bleeds a lot. Try a saline nasal spray to keep things moist up there. Stay away from Afrin like products if you are stuffy, as these will really make your nose bleed something awful.

Don't forget to include those veggies with your protein! You need the vitamins, minerals and fiber that those veggies provide for a healthy, strong body. I don't think Dr. Atkins intended this WOE to be a crash diet program....don't starve your body from carbs (like zero carbs or less than 10 grams a day) in an attempt to loose weight more quickly...it will backfire on you in the long run.

Dave,

In eating only meat and eggs you are depriving your body of essential vitamins and micronutrients not found in any pill form. Dr Atkin's lists 4 pages of induction foods in his book, 3 of those pages outline veggies and salads.

Could it be that some of those vitamins and micronutrients you are depriving your body of be causing the nose bleeds? You are allowed 20 carbs a day on induction, those coming from veggies. After induction then you can add in some fresh berries.

As Lisa pointed out, this is not a crash diet, nor is it a starvation one either. I would highly recommend you start adding back in those veggies and fruits for their vitamin and mineral contents. They do not have that many carbs in them.

I get bleeding nose too, and don't know why. BUT I did read a good home remedy once in a women's magazine that seems to work. The theory is that it's broken blood vessels (for whatever reason).

Get some neosporin, or another antibiotic cream, put on the tip of a Q-tip, and swab the inside of the nostril. Works for me :)
