Thai tea

Hello!

I love Thai tea. Does anyone know where I can purchase decaffeinated Thai tea?

I'm not sure if the Thai tea you know is the same as I had last weekend, but you could try Decaf Green Tea (Tetley, for one, makes this) and add some cilantro to the infusion. Hmmm, just back from checking the net (ain't Linux grand?) and found more different recipes for Thai tea than I ever imagined. Could you describe the taste of what you had, and we'll try and come up with a suitable version?

Thanks for your reply!

I searched and searched for decaffeinated Thai tea. I wanted decaf because I thought caffeine stimulated insulin production. However, after reading threads on caffeine, I am currently experimenting with regular Thai tea. I purchased premixed Thai tea at the Thai market. I made it according to the directions and used agave syrup to sweeten and heavy cream instead of condensed milk. It was DELICIOUS! :yum:

I have to be careful because it is very addicting!

Recipe

Hi All!

I have not tried to make my own thai tea mix, but here is a web address that has a few recipes. Obviously your prefered sugar alternative must be substited for sugar and condensed milk is a no-no.

I sweeten with agave nectar and add about 2 Tbs. of heavy cream.

Thai tea is served "iced."

Here's another site that you can purchase premixed Thai tea. All you have to do is follow the instructions on preparing the Thai tea and add sugar substitute to taste and heavy cream. (Served over ice, of course.)

I hope this helps! Ask if you have any questions.... I'll do my best to answer them! :D

Happy Thai Tea Drinking!
Misuzu
