Chocolate "Milk"
I made chocolate "milk" yesterday:
*I mixed up a bit of unsweetened pure cocoa powder (probably about a teaspoon -- you can always mix in a little more for more intense flavor), a couple packets of Splenda, then filled the glass about 3/4 full with water *Stirred it up, then mixed in a shot of heavy cream This turned out REALLY good -- I was pleasantly surprised. |
MMM, will try this one. Thanks.

Yum, this is the way I usually make hot cocoa. I never thought of having it cold like chocolate milk. I just had a glass and it was very satisfying. I added a bit of vanilla & liquid splenda for a lower carb count. :yum:

Got Milk?
I miss milk, so I'm definitely gonna give this a try. First I have to see if I can find the unsweetened cocoa, wish me luck. :p

How much cream to water?
sldeal, penzeys.com has great cocoa, the highest quality % butterfat you can get, both regular and dutched. You'd probably want dutched for this kind of application. |
RN,
With any mug / glass I use, I add about 1/4 cream and 3/4 water. I'm going to make a glass right now! :yum: HTH |
Hmmn. I didn't care for this much, but I'm a real milk snob (want whole cream milk, and cream+water always tastes funky to me) so that is probably why. Like the idea though! I think it has potential in other applications too.

I make something like with 4 oz. whipping cream, 8 oz. water, ice, and a couple big glugs of Walden Farm sugarfree chocolate syrup (probably about 1/4 cup).
It's divine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
WOW!!! Just tried this and it is excellent! I used 3/4 cup water-1/4 cup cream-1 teaspoon cocoa-dash of vanilla-2 packets of splenda and zapped it in the microwave! YUMMY!

Thanks so much! Hot chocolate is the main reason I've been reluctant to say bye bye to milk. I do eat All Bran sometimes, but compared to the total amount of milk because of HC, this will help SOOOOOOOOOO much. Thanks for this thread!
