Think of it this way.......

I have heard that a gallon of milk weighs about 8 pounds.

How many of you have lost 8 # already? You are now NOT carrying around 1 gallon of milk on your body.

How many of you are starting out? Maybe your first big goal could be 8# lost. That is BIG if you look at it in terms of how heavy a gallon of milk feels..or 2 or 3.
I have lost 6 gallons of milk just about. Can you imagine carrying around 6 gallons of milk ALL DAY EVERY DAY!

When times are hard...such as the holdiay season, DONT SECOND GUESS what you are doing. Just focus on your goals, if you stumble along the way, pick yourself up. We will surely help encourage you as best as we can cuz we have too- In a group like this, you will definately find support.

My dh says we actually are losing more than gallons of milk becuase fat weighs less than fluid weight...I dont understand that too much but he then said to pick up that 50# coconut oil I have in my soapmaking room. I hate carrying those things around becuase they are heavy...but I WAS carrying that around 1 year ago on my body.
See what I am getting at here.

Feel free to post your lost milk jugs here:)

almost 6 thus far

A gallon of almost anything liquid weighs 8 pounds. :D Now fat actually would probably have more volume than water. So if you've lost 8 pounds of fat it might be twice the volume of water (Not sure exactly).

Yeah, something like that...he was telling me...all I could imagine was the oil and vinegar dressing I have and the oil rests on top which is why I have to shake it vigorously..lol

And when someone tells you the weight you lost "is just water", think about how much space a quart or gallon of water takes up!

MammaC Fri, Dec-16-05 17:41

I guess I've lost 16 gallons of milk and a pint of cream. Or, I could say I've lost 520 sticks of butter.

Av. Gas weighs in at a bit over 6 lbs. per gallon... not sure how I should interpret that WRT weight loss though. ;)

But gas can compress down a lot when they pump it into a container.

I've watched surgeries where they remove LARGE chunks of skin with fat from people. 8 pounds represents a pretty large chunk.

That sure brings things into perspective :)

How encouraging, Dreamseeds, I've lost a gallon of milk so far!
I lifted (or should I say, HEAVED) a 40 pound bag of dog food into my cart the other day and couldn't imagine how I have managed to carry all this extra weight all this time.
Your weight stats are inspiring! Keep up the good work...only one more gallon to go!

Aquaholic Sat, Dec-17-05 21:15

I'm still amazed at the fact that you actually have a "soap making" room.,.

Ditto that. I set up a few 4' tables in the kitchen and think I'm doing well.

I had the same problem! Then I added another 20 lb. bag of cat food and couldn't push the grocery cart! I said to myself, four months ago I was trying to push that extra weight every day from morning to night without the grocery cart! It really hits you when you look at it in terms of every day comparisons.

Yeah carrying the dog food always gets me. I am now trying to imagine carrying 2 and a half, 20lb bags of dog food around all day. OMG how did we all do it?
